We're home again. I was mistaken last time when I said the infection was from the portacath. We did not determine the source of the infection. But the plan is to keep my mom on antibiotics for about 10 days. Her white blood cell count is looking normal again, today. This is good.
My mom just arrived home moments ago. We've decided to go with the hospice plan at home to have more coverage with my mom. Tonight we have an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) for 24 hour coverage during the transition. Tomorrow we have a visit from an RN (Registered Nurse) who will administer the next round of (daily) antibiotics. Beyond that, we are pretty much taking things one day at a time.
There are two nurses here at the moment, setting everything up. My mom looks alive and sounds great right now - although I know she is tired and needs rest. Please continue to keep in touch with Chris or myself if you are planning on a visit.
Thank you all for your support.
With love,
-Mike

(1) So glad she is home and (2) so glad she can have around-the-clock care. Yolanda has a lot of strength, and being surrounded by her loving family helps her tremedously, I'm sure. Big hugs and lots of love to all of you. I will try to come visit when I am 100% over this cold.

Mike, Chris, Yolanda...
I just want you to know that I'm praying for all of you, and will continue to do so. I'm praying for God's peace, and His comfort, and His guidance. I pray that the care-givers that come to your house are immediately touched by the presence of the Lord, and know that you are held tightly in His hands.

Yolanda & Family,
So glad to hear that Yolanda has made it home and that she has 24 hour care. I'm sure this entire thing has been overwhelming, frightening and exhausting for everyone. If there is anything that I can do to help please do not hesitate to let me know.. I am happy to help in any way that I am able. Even if its something silly like walkin' the dogs :)
Yolanda, you are an AMAZING woman and an inspiration to me. The obstacles that you have overcome and those that you continue to fight are those of warriors and makes me want to be a better person. I think about you daily and look forward to visiting you as soon as you feel up to it! In the meantime, if there is anything I can do please let Mike know to tell me.
I love you and your family and look forward to seeing you very soon!
With tremendous love,
Shaina & Elvis
